"Young people in general are unfairly painted with the image of being disinterested and uncaring towards their world. The reality is that they are more often than not dealing with issues more complex than they ever let on. I hope to make a positive difference in young people's lives as I always endeavour to be a positive role model"

In 2004, Ashton won the "Good Guys 'Good Kid Award' and in 2005 was nominated for the Youth Achievement Awards.
" One thing that breaks me is seeing young people who are convinced they don't matter or have lost or never had value for themselves. I want to especially encourage young people to see that they have worth and are valuable. I'm stoked to see Illawarra's Best Catch recognise positive role models and I'm excited to support and be a part of it"
